Pakatan Rakyat's leadership council has condemned the violence during campaigning and urged the police to act quickly to nab the perpetrators, said PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Pakatan views this matter seriously and condemns any effort to create chaos and disturbance," he said at a press conference here Monday.

"The council has also instructed all our supporters to remain calm and to act maturely and not to be swayed by provocation," he added.

A small explosion rocked a Barisan ceramah in Nibong Tebal on April 23, injuring a security guard while a Molotov cocktail was hurled into a Barisan operations centre in Sekinchan on the same night.

Two days later, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a Barisan Nasional operations centre in Buntong, Perak.

More than 1,160 cases of polls-related violence and intimidation have been reported mid-way into the campaigning period.

Nomination was held April 20 with polls set for May 5.
