Pas MP blames ‘indecent’ attire for sex crimes
Women can prevent sexual crimes by not wearing short pants and skimpy dresses.
This was the assessment by Pas’ Rantau Panjang member of parliament Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff, who said that indecent dressing had become a norm among young women here.
Addressing the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, she said this was not helped by the government’s insistence on bringing in international artistes, whom she claimed set a bad example.
“The government should consider enacting laws to prevent women from wearing indecent clothing to prevent sexual crimes.”
Siti Zailah took a swipe at women who wore short pants, labelling them indecent. She also believed that stewardesses’ uniforms were “too tight”.

Nik Aziz: No PAS-Umno unity government as long as I’m alive
PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has vowed never to permit his party to form a unity government with Umno while he drew breath, saying he found no reason for such a co-operation.
In an interview with PAS organ Harakah published today, the former Kelantan mentri besar also issued a stern reminder to party members to never pursue the effort.
He said apart from a clash in party ideologies, there were many other issues that would render it impossible for PAS to join hands with Umno.
“No one can organise efforts for cooperation between PAS and Umno, much less do it quietly... this party is open to everyone and belongs to its members.

As thousands rally in Kedah, Mahfuz warns BN against needless spats
Mahfuz reminded Mukhriz that the previous PAS administration had extended the use of the state stadium for Najib’s rally in January.
Thousands attended the “Black 505” rally here last night, where Kedah PAS chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar warned Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders against sparking conflict as the majority was with Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
Estimating that a crowd of 50,000 had gathered outside the state PAS headquarters, Mahfuz criticised newly-minted Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir for warning against the rally.
“I would advise Zahid to accept that the majority of the people are with the Pakatan Rakyat and don’t start a war with the people. Be rational,” the PAS vice-president and Pokok Sena MP was quoted as saying in media reports.

Nik Aziz: Offer to embrace DAP proof BN aware being sidelined
Barisan Nasional (BN) now knows it is being sidelined by the people, PAS’s Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat said today as he linked an offer by a former government spokesman to the ruling coalition’s new consciousness post Election 2013.
The Islamist party’s spiritual advisor (picture) also questioned the sincerity of Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin’s proposal that the DAP join the BN’s fold, pointing out his Pakatan Rakyat (PR) ally had previously been singled out for being a “chauvinist, communist party of belligerent infidels” bent on establishing a Christian state.
“Suddenly today the DAP is offered entry into BN?” Nik Aziz was quoted asking in the PAS-owned Harakah Daily, voicing his incredulity at the proposal.

Anwar as PM, two DPMs if Pakatan takes Putrajaya, says Karpal
Karpal, speaking at the Pakatan Rakyat grand rally at the Esplanade in Penang last night, said there is still fire in his belly.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be Malaysia’s seventh prime minister while PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and Lim Kit Siang will share honours as his deputies if Pakatan Rakyat (PR) seizes Putrajaya on Sunday, the DAP’s Karpal Singh proposed last night before a big crowd in Penang.
“Of course the man who is fit to be prime minister of this country, we in DAP propose and support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia’s seventh prime minister.
“Hadi Awang can be deputy prime minister. Lim Kit Siang can be DPM II and he can also be home minister,” the DAP national chairman told an ecstatic crowd dressed in the traffic light colours of red, yellow and green that crammed every square inch of ground in the port city where the pact had resurrected the forgotten Speaker’s Corner after coming to power five years ago.

GE13: Irate PAS leaders demand explanation from Johor DAP deputy chairman over call to reject Islamist party
With polling day just a week away, irate PAS leaders have asked Johor DAP deputy chairman Norman Fernandez to explain his statement urging voters to reject the Islamist party.
However, Fernandez has reiterated he would continue to express his personal views on sensitive issues such as hudud and public interest cases.
“This is a democracy and everyone is entitled to their opinion. If PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali and PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa can give their opinions, why not me?” he asked.
In an article written in the syed outsidethebox.blogspot.com blog on Saturday, Fernandez said the DAP must realise that PAS was no longer an honest, viable partner of Pakatan Rakyat and must be courageous enough to admit it.

Another DAP leader has urged voters to reject PAS in the general election until the party abandons its call for an Islamic state.
Kedah DAP committee member S. Neelamekan said the Federal Constitution was clear in that Malaysia was a secular state, adding that the incessant calls by PAS over the implementation of hudud law were “highly disturbing”.
He said PAS had been consistent in the type of administration it had been pushing, describing it as “dangerous” to Malaysia.
“The only way we can stop this is to stop PAS,” Neelamekan said.

Pas president accuses PKR of not vetting candidates
MARANG: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has launched an attack on several PKR candidates, labelling them drug dealers and communist sympathisers as well as "devils and troublemakers".
He also lambasted PKR for its "relaxed" attitude in selecting candidates, which he believed could jeopardise the opposition pact.
The tirade was made just before PKR's announcement yesterday that it would be pulling out its candidates contesting in the same three Terengganu state seats vied by Pas.
Addressing a crowd of around 200 Pas supporters on Sunday at Kampung Tebakang, Bukit Payung, here, Hadi had attempted to explain why Pas and PKR had pitted their candidates against each other in the Kota Putera, Seberang Takir and Bukit Besi state seats.

GE13: ‘Chinese can never control Parliament’
The Chinese will never be a dominant political force in Malaysia, even under Pakatan Rakyat, said PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu.
As both MCA and DAP would be vying for the limited number of Chinese-majority seats, they would only be eliminating each other, he said.
Only one would emerge winner in each seat, and the number of Chinese-majority seats remained the same, he added.
As such, it would be impossible for the Chinese to wield greater influence in Parliament, he said at a ceramah in Kupang on Thursday night.
It was Mohamad's inaugural ceramah in Kedah after PAS announced him as its Pendang parliamentary candidate.
Mohamad also pointed out that Pakatan Rakyat fielded 23 more Malay Muslim candidates compared with Barisan Nasional in the 2008 general election.
GE13: Mustafa: I’m not the man in videoclip

“This is a pure slander campaign by Umno. We do not suspect anyone else but the work of Umno,” Asmuni Awi, who heads the Awi & Co law firm, was quoted as saying by news portal Malaysiakini.
In a brief press statement issued yesterday, Mustafa said he would not answer any questions on the issue. “I am leaving it to my lawyers to handle it,” he added.
Political blog Kedahan69ers.com first uploaded a four-second preview of the videoclip at about 8.30pm on Thursday.
