Anwar Sex Tape Scandal Hishammuddin to sue Anwar

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has appointed a lawyer to institute legal action against PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for accusing him and the police of being behind a sex video recently exposed by three Datuks.

Sarawak polls on April 16?

Attention has shifted to the likely dates for polling and nomination in the 10th Sarawak election following yesterday’s dissolution of the state assembly.

A favourite date among pundits and politicians is April 16, a Saturday, preceded by the nomination process speculated for either April 6 or 9.

Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof will chair a special meeting here tomorrow to discuss matters pertaining to the state election, including the nomination and polling dates.

Of particular interest would be the duration of the campaign period.

The April 6 and 16 combination gives a 10-day campaign period while the April 9 nomination would reduce this to seven days.

The Election Commission had in the 2006 state polls decided on a 11-day campaign period.

The following is the media statement issued by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Datuk Seri Idris Jala on the bibles issue:

"The Government wish to reiterate that since March 15, it had given the directive to release all Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia, which are impounded in Port Klang and Kuching. However, to date the Christian groups who imported the Bibles have not yet collected them because they did not accept the stamps and the serialisation of these Bibles.

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, the Minister of Home Affairs mentioned that the act of stamping and serialisation is standard protocol; for example, Qurans which are imported into the country are also checked as authorised copies and are stamped with serial numbers before they are released. Qurans which are not authorised are impounded and destroyed. The act of stamping and serialisation of the Bibles in Bahasa Malaysia and the Qurans should not be perceived as desecration of Holy scriptures. Attached is a copy of the stamp and the serialisation as they appear of the Quran.
