MIC to convene emergency CWC meeting on June 18, says Palanivel

MIC has convened an emergency Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting to discuss issues related to branch, division, presidential and national elections, president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel said here.

In a statement, he said the meeting has been scheduled for June 18 at the MIC headquarters.

The meeting was called following a request by MIC strategic director S.Vell Paari to secretary-general A.Saktivel to convene the meeting to discuss the issue of party polls.

In a letter to Saktivel, he said he had the support of one-third of the 38 CWC members as required under the party constitution to call for an emergency meeting.

"I have asked for the CWC meeting not with any personal agenda but with an urgent need to save the party from getting entangled in a legal mess," he said.

On Waythamoorthy, Vell Paari says ‘no permanent enemies’ in politics

The decision to give P. Waythamoorthy a federal post shows that there are no “permanent enemies” in politics, MIC’s S. Vell Paari said today.

The MIC strategy director noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was willing to set aside Waythamoorthy’s previous criticisms against Barisan Nasional (BN) and prioritise the development of the Indian community instead, by appointing Waythamoorthy as a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

“Moral of the story, ‘there is no such thing as permanent friends or enemies in politics’,” said Vell Paari (picture) in a statement today.

“As far as I am concerned, the more Indians in government posts, the merrier,” added the MIC central working committee member.

BN will lose Selangor because of Zul Noordin, Vell Paari warns

The Barisan Nasional (BN) will lose in Selangor this May 5 if the coalition insists on fielding Datuk Zulkifli Noordin in Shah Alam, MIC’s S. Vell Paari warned today in a text message to party president Datuk G. Palanivel.

The MIC leader said that by fielding Zulkifli, BN is risking the Indian vote, which he said would likely become the deciding vote in states like Selangor, now ruled by Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

According to the text message delivered to The Malaysian Insider from a party source tonight, Vell urged Palanivel to convey his concerns to Datuk Seri Najib Razak and asked for “favourable action” from the BN chairman, warning of a “disastrous situation” if not action is taken.

Sujatha committed suicide, court rules - Unknowing swallow Paraguat. Kapar Federal Minister cry foul play

K. Sujatha 28 years old , is also the personal secretary to Vell Pari

Vella Pari with Kapar Parlimen member S.Manikavasagam , S Manikavasagam made police report connecting Vella to Sujatha died. But police only act after 1 month after the incident.
Sujatha called 2 weeks before death to uncle ,saying her life is being threathen. Further police investigation , said Sujatha call Vella after consuming paraguat and Vella then bring her to hospital.

The late K. Sujatha was a former assistant to Vell Paari. Son of MIC president Samy Vellu.

The Coroner’s Court ruled today that the death of actress K. Sujatha was a suicide.
Coroner Mohd Faizi Che Abu ruled that she committed suicide after drinking Paraquat weedkiller.
“To conclude my finding, I held that the deceased had died... (and) her cause of death is Paraquat ingestion and she died in the manner in which she had committed suicide.”
The coroner, however, admitted that the missing urine samples and the absence of a post-mortem report due to Sujatha’s family’s refusal allow one to be conducted had “deprived him from knowing the cause of death from the medical point of view.”
“I am now left with the circumstantial evidence and oral testimony of the witnesses... in my considered view, the family members and the doctor who are professionals and independent witnesses could not have agreed on something that is fictitious or untrue,” he said.
Sujatha, 28, died at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang on June 25, 2007, six days after being admitted to the hospital for allegedly ingesting Paraquat.
Among witnesses at Sujatha’s death inquest were S. Vell Paari, the son of MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu and Maika Holdings chief executive officer; his cousin Dr S.P. Saktiveloo, a specialist attached to the hospital; and Sujatha’s two brothers.
Sujatha had once worked as a personal assistant to Vell Paari.
Federal opposition leaders, chiefly PKR Kapar parliamentarian S. Manickavasagam, alleged foul play in Sujatha’s death, claiming that Vell Paari was connected to the event.
The Kapar MP claimed that a poison pen letter also alleged a third party’s involvement in Sujatha’s death. He also claimed Sujatha’s father had called him, pleading that he probe an anonymous phone call the former had received.
The phone call purportedly made a similar claim that “someone” had been involved in Sujatha’s death.
In his judgment, the coroner said the claims made by Manickavasagam were not backed by substantial proof.
He also said the lack of injuries other than internal ones caused by Paraquat and testimonies from family members that she had admitted to drinking the weedkiller “unknowingly” all pointed to suicide instead of murder.
On Vell Paari’s alleged intimate affair with the deceased, the coroner said a thorough check through Sujatha’s diary did indicate that “she was in love.”
And although evidence such as the discovery of Vell Paari’s photos and other testimony indicative of their close relationship were presented during the course of the inquest, the coroner said the matter has no bearing on the inquest.
“He could be the person the deceased was in love with but I am reluctant to decide on this issue as it has no bearing in this inquest.”
“Her lover may be morally wrong but not legally,” added the coroner.
