Elizabeth disappears for a second time, brother seeks police help


Elizabeth Momay Donny’s (right pic) sudden disappearance from her home has caused anxiety to her family.

Her brother, Edwin, 26, lodged a police report yesterday seeking police assistance to locate.

He said he not only feared for her safety but that she would also be sitting for her SPM exam in November.

In his police report, Edwin said his sister left their family home in Lane 3, Jalan Kenari at about 3.30pm on Oct 7.

He believed a man had come to fetch her.

Sabah kidnap victim returns home

Chong Wei Jie, the 25-year-old plantation assistant manager who escaped his abductors in Jolo Island, Philippines has returned to his hometown in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

The still traumatised Wei Jie who underwent nine months in captivity arrived in Kota Kinabalu late last night and was flown back to Port Dickson after receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said they will let him (Wei Jie) rest and spend some time with his family before asking him to return to Sabah to assist investigations into the abduction.

Missing 3 year old Aisyah reunited with mum

Arbaiyah Md Zin, reunited with her three-year-old daughter.

The mother of a three-year-old girl who was found in Penang after being reported missing in Rawang, Selangor, has been questioned by Penang police.

Arbaiyah Md Zin emerged from the Sungai Nibong station with her daughter, Wan Aisyah Exzam, at about 6.40pm after almost two hours with police officers.

They were with a man, believed to be her former husband.

Arbaiyah refused to speak to reporters but the man thanked the police for their assistance in locating the child. He also said that they had bought new Raya clothes for the girl.

Nayati kidnap trial postponed to Tuesday for witness to testify

The trial of the men accused of kidnapping Dutch national Nayati Shamelin Moodliar has been postponed to Tuesday as the scheduled witness had to testify in a court elsewhere.

High Court judge Justice Kamardin Hashim allowed the application by deputy public prosecutor Datuk Nik Suhaimi Sulaiman to postpone the trial as the witness, DSP Zuraimi Zam Zam had gone to the High Court in Ipoh to testify in an ongoing case.

The court heard that another witness was also unable to attend as she was testifying in a case at a court outstation.

Nik Suhaimi added that the second accused, handphone seller Foong Khar Fai, 19, was also unable to be produced in court on Monday.

Foong, along with self-employed Chong Tat Siong and unemployed Lee Phak Seng, both 23, were charged on May 23 last year with kidnapping Nayati with the intent to get RM300,000 ransom.

Neighbours’ quick action saves toddler from abduction

Concerned neighbours and their frantic SMSes saved a toddler from being kidnapped here.

A man, on the pretext of delivering fish, had rushed into the child's home in Jalan Bakariah and tied up his mother.

He snatched the year-old boy away and demanded that the family come up with a ransom for the child's release during the 10.30am incident on Tuesday.

Neighbours, who saw the man driving away with the child, took down the car's number plate and spread it among their friends via text message on their phones.

The message, written in Chinese, spread fast and even the kidnapper, apparently, got wind of the SMSes.

He aborted his plan and abandoned the boy at a hawker centre in Yong Peng, about 55km from here.

A woman trader found the child, who has yet to learn to walk, near a toilet.

Fisherman tells coroner how boy's body was brought to main jetty

PETALING JAYA: A FISHERMAN related how he was having tea with his friends in a stall on Jan 24 when they saw the body of a boy floating in the river about 50m away from where they were.

Satarudin Kamal, 45, said they ran and tied a rope round the feet of the body, which was decomposed with the eyes missing and pulled it using a small boat to the main jetty at Kampung Sungai Sireh in Port Klang.

Satarudin was giving evidence in the inquest of 6-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong, who went missing for about a week before his body was found floating in Sungai Klang early this year.

POLICE rescued an 8-month-old baby girl, some 30 hours after she was abducted from her home in Johor by her Indonesian maid.

A police party raided a double-storey house in Taman Seri Jenjarom, here, on Monday afternoon where they found the baby.

Kuala Langat deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Rizani Che Ismail said initial investigations revealed that the 24-year-old maid from Probolinggo, East Java, had fled her employer's house in Taman Impian Emas, Skudai about 6am on Sunday.

Hostage drama at gems shop

Three armed robbers held a woman hostage before escaping with jewellery worth RM3mil in a daring heist which lasted less than seven minutes at a busy hypermarket in Seberang Jaya near here.

The robbers entered the jewellery shop located on the first-floor of the hypermarket on the pretext of buying gold chains for their wives at 2.10pm.

While the salesgirls were displaying the jewellery, the three suddenly whipped out their guns and shouted “This is a robbery” in Hokkien.

They then ordered the salesgirls to take out the jewellery trays from the showcase and place them in their bags.

Charred remains confirmed Dirang's - Police reclassify case as murder

THE DNA samples from the charred remains found at Nusa Damai oil palm plantation on Thursday have been confirmed as that of 5-year-old Nurul Nadirah Abdullah, or Dirang.

Dirang has been missing for 13 days since March 1, after leaving her Seri Delima flats in Bandar Seri Alam here about 11am.

The remains were found about 9am in a 3.5m hole dug in the plantation, which was 3.5km away from the flats through a short-cut. The plantation is about 20km away from the main road.

Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Roslan Zainuddin said the DNA matched with the victim's mother, Roselyn Alan, 25.

"The DNA samples were from bone fragments found at the scene. The Chemistry Department had matched the DNA samples to her mother's DNA," Roslan said, adding that the remains were at the mortuary at Sultan Aminah Hospital and would be released to the family today.

"The body is believed to have been set on fire at the plantation about five days ago, eight days after she went missing."

Shopaholic kidnappers caught

7 held and RM600,000 recovered after businessman and aide are released.THE spending spree of a gang of kidnappers was cut short when police arrested seven suspects and recovered more than RM600,000 of the RM850,000 ransom paid for the release of a businessman and his aide.

The businessman, 31, and his aide, 45, were grabbed by the kidnappers in Ijok, Kuala Selangor, on Monday afternoon.

Their families were contacted and a ransom of RM2 million was demanded for their release. After negotiations, the sum was brought down to RM850,000.

The victims were released on Tuesday night in Ayer Hitam, Ijok, after the ransom was paid.

He was not in town, and I was running errands with his car.

Just as I was putting my shopping bags in the rear seat, the rear car door was slammed against my back, and a meat cleaver was pressed against my throat.

A man covered my mouth with his hand, and whispered not to scream.

He then shoved me onto the floor of the backseat of the car and waved the cleaver at me, reminding me not to scream.

Terror in mall basement carpark

Police have picked up a suspect in connection with the dramatic robbery and assault of a 25-year-old woman, an incident that went viral after she posted her harrowing experience at a basement mall carpark on Facebook.

In the incident on Sunday at the Curve, Mutiara Damansara, B2 carpark, Chin Xin Ci (pic) said she jumped off her moving car after a struggle with two men.

12-year-old abducted while going to school

A 12-year-old boy who was on his way to Mont' Kiara International School (MKIS) near his home was abducted by two men in a black car.

Nayati Shamelin Moodliar, who was in his school uniform, was grabbed at about 7.35am just a short distance from his school.

According to witnesses, the men, who were in a black sedan, grabbed the boy while he was walking to school, bundled him into the car and sped off.

Nayati, who has dark brown eyes, is about 1.5m tall and weighs 45kg. He was wearing a white polo T-shirt with the school's emblem and dark green shorts. The boy's sobbing parents have appealed to the abductors to release their only son as soon as possible.

Four charged with kidnapping

A suspended police officer, two security guards and a trader were yesterday charged with kidnapping a millionaire's son for a ransom of RM1.5 million.

Inspector R. Raja Kumar, 44, from the Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, security guards M. Ramu, 35, and K. Shashi, 25, and trader G. Thiagarajah, 37, claimed trial to the charge which could send them to the gallows if convicted.

What was supposed to be an enjoyable family outing nearly turned into a nightmare for telecommunication company project manager Saifuddin Abu Samah on Saturday night.

He had taken his wife and four daughters out for dinner to a restaurant in Taman Melati Utama, near Wangsa Maju.

There a man tried to abduct his 6-year-old daughter, Nur Farihah.

Saifuddin, 37, said they were walking towards their car parked just 70m from the restaurant, at 8.40pm, when the incident happened.

Azmi Sulaiman, 50, said his daughter, Ahzlina Azmi, had been begging him to bring her home every time she called the family as she was living in misery.

"During our conversation last month, she kept repeating her wish to return home as she could no longer stand the suffering."

Tears flow for murdered baby

Even the sky opened up when the body of an innocent 9-month-old baby boy placed in a coffin was taken out in a hearse from the house in Taman Indah Sakthi, Bercham here yesterday.

It was raining cats and dogs when the priest was performing the prayers for Seshagiry before the hearse left the house. The body was buried at the Buntong Crematorium at about 11.30am.

Family members could not hold back their tears on seeing the body while friends were saddened over the tragedy.

Two bomoh offered their services to subdue the criminals but were unsuccessful.

"I THOUGHT I was being invited to Tun Hanif Omar's house for dinner after I was summoned back from a conference in Singapore by the former inspector-general of police.

"Thinking it was a small and informal get-together, I dressed casually. Little did I realise what was in store for me.

"When I arrived at Tun Hanif's house, there was no dinner waiting for me but a group of police officers in a serious meeting with him. I was summoned to join the meeting," recalled Datuk Zaman Khan.


Zaman, who was then police director of internal security and public order, found out that he was to lead a crack team of about 30 officers to resolve the Pudu Prison hostage crisis that lasted for six days 25 years ago.
