Muhyiddin must apologise for inferring non-Muslims behind dog bathing video, says Pakatan

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should apologise for jumping the gun and blaming non-Muslims for being behind a video clip depicting a dog undergoing ablution similar to Muslims before prayers, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang said today.

"He should apologise for condemning the video without checking the facts," said the Gelang Patah MP in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.

Muslim dog trainer Maznah Mohd Yusof, 38, had recorded a Raya greeting video three years ago that showed her washing dogs' paws while the call for Azan is heard in the background.

Kit Siang suggests single-function EC in revamp proposal

Citing the just-concluded May 5 polls, Lim said it was high time that the EC’s functions are revamped to ensure the entire polling process is clean and fair, and is subjected to sufficient checks and balances

Lim Kit Siang today suggested a total revamp of the Election Commission (EC) that will see the regulator’s duties reduced to a single function - to ensure free and fair elections at federal and state levels.

He said voter registration and the revising of electoral rolls, and the delimitation of constituencies should be duties handled separately by other, equally independent bodies.

“In other democratic countries, these... functions are carried out by separate bodies and this is something we can emulate if it will lead to a cleaner, more just and fairer electoral system,” he said.

“I have always contended in Parliament in the past four decades that the EC has a constitutional duty to conduct a clean, free and fair elections and not just to mechanically conduct an election process,” he added.

Under the Federal Constitution, the EC is currently tasked to carry out the elections, register voters and revise electoral rolls, and delimit constituencies.

Learn to be Malaysian, Kit Siang tells Dr M

Dr Mahathir was “returning to his racist roots” but was now preaching to a shrinking audience, Lim said

Lim Kit Siang today called Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad the “greatest enemy of multiracial Malaysia” and told him “learn to be a Malaysian” as he continued his party’s retaliation against the former prime minister’s racially-charged attacks.

The veteran DAP lawmaker reminded Dr Mahathir that it was he who fathered the “Bangsa Malaysia” concept and Vision 2020, two progressive ideals that envisaged a peace-loving, developed and multiracial Malaysia in the years ahead.

“Has Dr Mahathir completely repudiated his Vision 2020 and Bangsa Malaysia concept?” Lim asked in a statement here.

“Dr Mahathir has become the greatest enemy of a multi-racial Malaysia. Let me advise Dr Mahathir to stop being an inveterate racist and learn to be a Malaysian,” he added.

The Gelang Patah MP was responding to Dr Mahathir’s latest tirade against the DAP in which the latter had again appeared to blame the opposition party for rallying the Chinese against the Malays during the just-concluded Election 2013.

Kit Siang: Why has Zahid not faced ‘criminal’ charges?

New Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi may be a “criminal”, Lim Kit Siang suggested today, reminding Malaysians that the Umno leader had yet to clear his name against allegations of assault in 2006.

The DAP adviser agreed with Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo who said last week that it was improper to place Zahid in a position where he has great influence over enforcement bodies like the police and prisons when the latter still had such charges hanging over him.

“A response from Najib to Gobind’s query is in order,” Lim said in a statement, referring to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, “... especially as he is the first prime minister to specifically appoint a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department to be specifically responsible for integrity and good governance.”

Former Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) president Datuk Paul Low was recently appointed to Najib’s Cabinet and placed in charge of corruption and integrity.

“Paul Low... should also declare whether he agrees that Zahid should stand down as home minister until he has fully cleared himself of the serious charges of assault going back to January 2006 when he was deputy information minister,” Lim said.

Kit Siang: BN cooked up ‘Red Bean Army’ to burn DAP

Lim Kit Siang accused Barisan Nasional (BN) today of an elaborate conspiracy allegedly orchestrated with the help of former DAP members to demonise the opposition party ahead of and following Election 2013.

The DAP adviser claimed in a statement here that a preliminary inquiry has revealed that the conspiracy was hatched some three months before Parliament was dissolved on April 3, and was aimed at running down the party’s image ahead of the crucial polls.

According to Lim, the ploy included allegations of the “fictitious Red Bean army (RBA)”, a purported online operation of cybertroopers allegedly funded by the DAP to incite hatred, particularly among the Chinese, against BN.

“The main purveyors of the lies about the ‘Red Bean Army’ are the Umno/BN owned/controlled print media, which include Utusan Malaysia, New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Star, both before and after the 13th General Election on May 5,” the Gelang Patah MP alleged in the statement.

Explain why ex-judge and retired D-G still walking free, Kit Siang asks IGP

The DAP’s Lim Kit Siang called the national police chief’s bluff today, saying retired senior judge Datuk Mohd Noor Abdullah and former education director-general Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Arshad would have been arrested, questioned and charged with sedition if Bukit Aman were fully independent.

Highlighting the speedy arrest and prosecution of three opposition politicians and two other anti-government activists today, the Gelang Patah MP demanded Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar explain his men’s delay in acting against Mohamad Noor and Abdul Rahman who have been widely-panned for allegedly making racist and seditious remarks recently against the Chinese and Indian communities.

“Can IGP explain police double-standards in not enforcing the law against former Appeal Court judge and former Education Director-General despite their offences of sedition?” Lim (picture) asked in a statement

Kit Siang denies ‘Malai-seh’ slogan, calls Zul Noordin ‘irresponsible liar’

Lim Kit Siang today denied that he or the DAP had called for the death of Malays with the term “Malai-seh” during the bloody May 1969 riots, saying Datuk Zulkifli Noordin (pic) had committed sedition and criminal defamation with the allegation.

Lim, who is frequently targeted by right-wing Malay leaders as the protagonist behind the country’s worse racial clash in history, said Zulkifli’s remarks were merely lies uttered by a man who voters had rejected in the just-concluded Election 2013.

“After having been rejected in Shah Alam, even by the Malay voters, he continues to tell irresponsible lies.

Vote-rigging helped BN win Putrajaya, Kit Siang tells rally

Barisan Nasional (BN) would not have retained federal power if Election 2013 was free and fair, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang told a mass rally of tens of thousands last night.

Some 50,000, dressed mostly in black, packed Stadium MBPJ in Kelana Jaya here to the rafters at Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) rally against electoral fraud, shouting “Ubah” (Change) and “Reformasi” (Reformation) throughout the night.

“BN has 133 seats. Minus 30, they’re left with 103. Does he still qualify to continue to be prime minister?” roared Lim, referring to Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Pakatan Rakyat takes victory and defeat calmly: Kit Siang

During an interview with Sin Chew Daily, Lim said that Pakatan Rakyat is well prepared to accept the election result

Regardless of winning or losing the election, Pakatan Rakyat will adhere to the principle of democracy and accept the result openly and calmly, while hoping that the BN will face the result with the same attitude to lead Malaysia towards the true process of democratisation, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang said.
During an interview with Sin Chew Daily, Lim said that Pakatan Rakyat is well prepared to accept the election result.

Lim said that Pakatan Rakyat adheres to implement changes in a democratic and peaceful way, rather than full of riots like the Arab Spring.

Lim, who is also Pakatan Rakyat candidates for the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat, took the DAP as an example. The party has experienced ups and downs since it was established in 1966. He had been defeated in previous elections and although he thought that the election was dirty and unfair, he still faced the election result, even with discontentment.

Malaysia In Johor, a struggling MCA on the brink of collapse

Tee Yong speaks to a woman while on his campaign rounds in Labis recently.

Inside a small tuckshop in a town called Tenang Station in Labis, Johor, a mahjong game was left abandoned on a cool Thursday afternoon.

Its four players — two middle-aged and two elderly men — had left the seats they were occupying since breakfast to stand outside on the street along with other patrons, craning their heads to watch as Lim Kit Siang’s colourful motorcade pulled up front.

Before the 72-year-old Lim could step out of the vehicle, they rushed to hold the door open for him, many among them shouting “Ini kalilah” and “Ubah”, the famous rallying cries of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) that has been reverberating throughout Johor since April 20.

BN under pressure in Johor

With DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang personally commanding the battle in Johor, along with new generation leaders such as Liew Chin Tong and Teo Nie Ching, a political tsunami is in the making in BN's southern stronghold.

Joining the onslaught are Pakatan's other heavyweight leaders PAS vice president Salahuddin Ayub and PKR vice president Chua Jui Meng.

The fortress of BN is now Pakatan's frontline state. With the anti-establishment sentiment stronger now than ever, BN's majority votes will be remarkably slashed and some of the "black areas" could easily change hands after tomorrow.

While BN is poised to retain the state, its prowess is definitely weakened this time round.

The number of BN's state assembly seats will be reduced, but no one can tell for sure by how many.

Malaysia In Perak, Pakatan sees victory in increased rural Chinese support

Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is confident of taking Perak this May 5 with increased support from Chinese voters in the rural Malay-majority seats as they have now warmed to voting in a non-Chinese to represent them.

The Chinese form the minority in many of these rural seats where PR parties, particularly Islamist PAS, had lost by small margins in Election 2008.

But Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming said that with PAS, the DAP and PKR now campaigning as one under the PR umbrella, the rural Chinese community has grown more comfortable voting for Muslim candidates from PAS or PKR.

“In our latest independent survey, we are quite optimistic. We have strong seats now... between 35 and 38. The best is 40,” he told when met on the campaign trail in Trong, near Taiping, on Friday.

I am not afraid of any skeletons

.
Dr M dares opposition to reveal whatever files they have on him..

A LESS than impressed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday told the opposition he was not afraid of any investigation into his tenure as prime minister.

He said the opposition may open "whatever files they have on me now", adding that he was not afraid of any "skeletons in the closet".

Dr Mahathir said they could investigate him whenever they wished.

"I was taken to court during Pak Lah's (former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) rule. I am not afraid," he said at the launch of the KRU Academy here.

Dr Mahathir said this in reply to DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang's comments that he (Dr Mahathir) was scared that questions over financial scandals during his tenure would resurface if Barisan Nasional (BN) lost the impending general election.
