Funds to upgrade plant a bribe, claims PAS
PAS has accused the Government of committing election bribery when it announced a RM9.25mil allocation to upgrade a water treatment plant in Kerdau.
Its vice-president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man claimed that the funds to increase the capacity of the Batu Sawar treatment plant, which supplies water to parts of Kerdau and nearby areas, could be considered “a bribery”.
The announcement, he claimed, was clearly Barisan Nasional’s way of stopping the people from complaining about the water problem.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the allocation when he visited Kerdau on Sunday.
Tuan Ibrahim also claimed that Barisan was desperate for Chinese, Indian and orang asli votes and as such, Najib had to announce the other allocations for a new community hall, a temple and a voluntary fire brigade station.
He said the Kuala Krau PAS Youth would lodge a report with the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Com-mission and the Election Commission over the allocation, which he claimed violated the 1960 Election Act.
