5 people die in various places in midnight accidents.

Five people, including two motorcyclists, died in three separate accidents here between midnight and 10am yesterday.

Acting district police chief Superintendent Adnan Azizon said at 10am, a one-tonne lorry from Yong Peng rammed into a lorry which was waiting to turn into Pekan Sri Medan at Km14.5, Jalan Muar-Yong Peng.

Adnan said the lorry driver must have failed to notice the stationary lorry in front of him and crashed into the back of the vehicle.


While the two lorry drivers escaped with light injuries, the accident had sparked another collision between a lorry and a Toyota Corona at the same spot.

"The car ended up in a drain, while the lorry crashed into a bus stop nearby. Both drivers died on the spot."

The deceased were identified as lorry driver Mohammad Syukri Musa, 39, from Seremban, while the car driver was Selamat Muskar, 44, from Kampung Sri Maamor, Tangkak, Muar.


Selamat's wife Salimah Anggerip, 39, and an unidentified youth sustained injuries and were warded in the emergency ward of the district hospital.






Meanwhile, at 1.15am, a motorcyclist and a pillion rider died after their motorcycle crashed into a trailer transporting new cars at Km5, Jalan Bukit Pasir-Tongkang Pecah, near here.

They were Muhammad Herman Jehia, 23, from Kampung Parit Haji Dahlan, Yong Peng, and Mohamad Iezwan Anuar, 18, of Jalan Wangi, Yong Peng.


Adnan said the two were travelling from Tongkang Pechah and was believed be overtaking the vehicle in front when they hit the trailer coming from the opposite direction.

In yet another accident Hafedy Othman, 18, a special education class student, from Kampung Parit Khalil died when the motorcycle he was riding, crashed into a car while Hafedy was making a u-turn near Pekan Ayer Hitam at midnight
