Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat will hand over the reins as Kelantan mentri besar to his deputy Datuk Ahmad Yakcop today, effectively ending his 22-year rule of the state.
The long-serving PAS spiritual adviser led his team through yet another successful general election last night, which saw Pakatan Rakyat (PR) retaining power over Kelantan with 32 of the 45 state seats up for grabs.
Nik Aziz’s successor, Ahmad, will be sworn in at the Istana Kubang Kerian at around 4.30pm.
The state Ruler will also swear in Kelantan’s new deputy mentri besar, who is expected to be state PAS deputy commissioner II Datuk Nik Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, and a new line-up of state executive councillors
