Four policemen put on desk duty pending probe into Dharmendran lock-up death

Four policemen have been assigned to desk duties pending investigation into the death in police custody of N. Dharmendran.

City deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Amar Singh said the case is being investigated by a task force set up by Bukit Aman.

He said further action will be taken once the task force has completed its investigation.

“Until the investigation is over, the four policemen including an officer will be assigned to desk duties,” he said after handing over an appreciation letter to policemen.

During the ceremony, SAC Amar handed over an appreciation letter to Constable Muhalim Osob for handling the candlelight vigil outside Jinjang police station in support for Adam Adli Abd Halim, 24, with high professionalism.

Muhalim faced a group of lawyers who were denied entry to the Jinjang police detention centre to visit the student activist.

On May 23, police arrested 18 after the crowd failed to disperse despite warnings from the police.
