All-woman team in PKR line-up for Selangor exco

PKR looks set to field an all-woman line-up in the Selangor executive council, with first-term assemblyman Dr Daroyah Alwi(right) joining Elizabeth Wong and Rodziah Ismail on the team.
Rodziah and Wong were the last to enter the palace gates at 10.30am.

With this line-up, PAS would have four exco members while PKR and DAP have three each.

Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is expected to be in charge of land development and finances, while Teng will take on the trade and investment portfolio.

Iskandar (Housing), Rodziah (Welfare), Dr Halimah (Education), Dr Ahmad Yunus (Youth and Sports), Wong (Environment) and Ean Yong (New village development) are expected to continue on in their respective portfolios.

Ganabatirao(left), a former Shah Alam city councillor, is speculated to take on the local government portfolio, while Dr Daroyah and Sallehen will helm the health and Islamic Affairs portfolios respectively.

DAP, which held the state Speaker's position last term, is expected to appoint someone from within the party to take over from Teng.

Among the names speculated are Hannah Yeoh (DAP-Subang Jaya), Lau Weng San (DAP-Kampung Tunku) and Ng Suee Lim (DAP-Sekinchan), all of whom were said to be nominated for exco positions too.

As for the deputy speaker's position, Haniza Talha (PKR-Taman Medan) might retain the position, although there is also talk of Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (Seri Setia) taking over.

Dr Daroyah, a dentist, won the Sementa state seat in the 13th general election on May 5, while Wong and Rodziah successfully defended the Bukit Lanjan and Batu Tiga state seats respectively.

They will be joined by first-term assemblyman V. Ganabatirao (DAP-Kota Alam Shah) and religious teacher Sallehen Mukhyi (PAS-Sabak).

Sallehen, 40, was Sungai Besar state assemblyman from 1999 to 2004. In 2004, Sungai Besar was made a parliamentary seat.

The rest of the exco will consist of former state assembly speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim (DAP-Sungai Pinang), Iskandar Samad (PAS-Cempaka), Dr Halimah Ali (PAS-Selat Kelang), Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (PAS-Sijangkang).

All 10 were seen entering Istana Alam Shah on Wednesday for a rehearsal of Thursday'sc swearing-in ceremony.

The first to arrive was Ganabatirao, who entered the palace at 10am.
