Cheras Police Chief ACP Mohan Singh Tara Singh said five suspects, including two women were detained and two BMW, a proton Savy, a Honda Odyssey and a Honda Civic car was seized together with a lap top, hand phones, car keys and tools used for breaking into houses.

"The five suspects comprising three men and two women were detained in Genting Highlands on June 8, before two more members of the syndicate were detained in Cheras on June 14," he told reporters here today.

Mohan said police believe the arrest of the seven would be able to solve at least 17 robbery and carjacking cases in Cheras, Brickfields, Kajang and Gombak.

The modus operandi of the syndicate is to break into houses when owners are away and escape with valuables and any car parked in the house compound. -- BERNAMA
