Drugs worth RM18m found

Police found syabu and Erimin worth RM18 million from the laboratory that was partially destroyed in a fire at the Pekan Nenas New Industrial Estate on Monday.

Investigations also revealed that a major drug syndicate, with foreign links, was using the frozen food factory as a front for the drug lab.

“We have identified several suspects, including a foreigner, and hope to make some arrests soon,” Johor police chief Datuk Mokhtar Shariff said.

He added personnel from the Forensics, Fire and Rescue and Chemistry departments were conducting separate investigations at the scene and hoped to come up with more answers soon.

It was reported that the fire broke out on Monday afternoon at the back portion of the two-storey building which had passed off as a frozen food factory.
