PM, DPM to visit each state from next month

The goal of the visits is to ensure services to the people were delivered and promises were honoured. -- Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein who is also Umno vice-president

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin are scheduled to go on a whirlwind tour of the country starting next month.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said Sarawak would be the first visit for the two leaders in their itinerary.

“It will be a two-day and one-night stay in people’s home for them in every state. They are expected to visit one state a month and complete the tour in September,” he said here yesterday.

Hishammuddin, who is also Umno vice-president, said Najib, who is Umno president, and Muhyiddin, would travel together only to Sarawak. For other states, he said, either one of the leaders would stop by to stay with the people.

He said the goal of the visits was to ensure services to the people were

delivered and promises were honoured.

On whether it was a roadshow to drum up support ahead of the general election, Hishamuddin said: “We need to listen and keep our fingers on the pulse of the nation.”

He said he was in charge of coordinating the travel programme and administering its implementation.

He said he would call a meeting with the two other Umno vice-presidents to make preparations tomorrow.

“Barisan Nasional leaders will also be involved in the programme.”
