AFF Suzuki Cup winning squad to receive RM50,000 each from FAM
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) reward 22 players and coach K. Rajagopal, RM50,000 each, as an incentive for winning the AFF Suzuki Cup.
The incentives were presented by FAM president Sultan Ahmad Shah at Wisma FAM here today.
"The achievement is a very proud moment not only for me but the entire nation. This success must have continuity. This is only the beginning of a new era for Malaysian football," said Sultan Ahmad Shah.
He said the national team cannot be satisfied with a win at the Asean level but instead strive for bigger international success by qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics and 2014 World Cup.
Sultan Ahmad Shah also announced that state FAs would receive additional grants this year, since the FAM had received more allocation, but did not reveal the actual amount.
"Due to an increased allocation, the FAM will also be able to organise more friendly matches abroad, on a monthly basis. This will ensure players will not remain idle and continue to be in the game," he said.
He added that the FAM had also appointed businessman Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman as the FAM treasurer in place of acting treasurer V. Ampega.
