A 12-year-old boy died and two other children are reported missing after they went to have a bath at the Perak River in Kuala Kangsar, about 60km from here today.

Suhairi Nizam Baharudin, who was brought to the banks after he was spotted struggling in strong currents in the river near Kampung Pauh Pulai, Ara Panjang, Manong, was sent to the Kuala Kangsar Hospital.

However, he died on the way about 4pm.

The other unidentified children, aged between eight and 10, are believed to have been swept away by the currents.
