Eight passengers were injured after the express bus they were travelling in skidded and overturned at Km139.1 of the North-South Expressway near here early yesterday.

The accident happened after heavy rain at 4am.

However, eight passengers in the bus suffered cuts and bruises and were later rushed to Seberang Jaya Hospital. Those injured in the accident were all Thais aged between 20 and 30.The remaining passengers were transferred to another bus and continued their journey to Hat Yai.
State police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob said police had recorded a statement from the bus driver.
