Umno to discuss proposal on election dry run
The Umno management meeting today will discuss a proposal to conduct dry run for the 13th general election, said party secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor yesterday.
He said discussions from the meeting chaired by Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would then be forwarded to the Umno supreme council during its meeting on May 27.
"The actual date for the dry run will be decided at the Umno supreme council meeting.
"In fact, Umno has already set the date, with the possibility of it being held in July but Barisan Nasional has not made a decision following the postponement of the BN supreme council meeting that was supposed to be held last Friday," said Tengku Adnan after launching the Ziarah Kasih Puteri Umno programme yesterday.
Tengku Adnan said all the 191 Umno divisions nationwide had been asked to assist in registering more than 400,000 party members who have yet to register as voters.
He said it had to be expedited because the latest statistics released by the Election Commission showed that more than three million people who had reached the age of 21 were not registered voters.
