Motorist crushed to death

The driver of a Proton Saga died instantly after his car was rammed from behind by a lorry.

The car was squashed and dragged 150 metres along Persiaran Kewajipan near SS14 in Subang Jaya yesterday morning.

The victim was Sabaruddin Junus, a 34-year-old clerk from Sabah, and the lorry subsequently ploughed into three more vehicles - a taxi, a Proton Perdana and a Toyota Rush.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar said in the 10am incident, Sabaruddin and the lorry driver were both heading towards Subang.

"The lorry driver lost control and rammed into the Proton Saga in front. Sabaruddin was trapped in his car and died instantly," he said, adding the case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

"The lorry driver, 23, from Terengganu and drivers of the other three cars sustained light injuries."

Sabaruddin’s body was moved to Hospital Serdang for a post-mortem.
