The owner of the car that was grazed by 14-year-old Aminulrasyid Amzah before the teenager was shot by the police last week has lodged a police report confirming the incident.
Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said the motorcyclist who collided with the car Aminulrasyid was driving on April 26 had also lodged a police report, corroborating the version given by Azamuddin Omar, who was in the car with Aminulrasyid when the latter was shot.
“The boys panicked and fled the scene and were pursued by the car owner’s friends on three motorcycles,” said Khalid in a press conference Thursday.
He added that the boys thought the car belonged to a VIP and the motorcycles were outriders.
“They were convinced it was big-shot when a police car started chasing them,” he added.
Khalid said the owner of the car, who was outstation at the time, had lodged a police report on Tuesday after the police spoke to him.
“He did not realise his car was linked to Aminulrasyid’s death until the police called him. He came to see me as he was afraid of being remanded. I advised him to lodge a report,” Khalid said.
Khalid also questioned the need for Azamuddin to be questioned three times by the police.
“Is there an agenda? I fear the police are deliberately questioning him to find inconsistencies in his story,” said Khalid, adding that the police might then claim the boy was an unreliable witness.
