Fire destroys seven squatter houses in Sentul market -
A fire destroyed at least seven squatter houses in Kampung Chubadak, Sentul Pasar, here last night, dealing a blow to the Aidilfitri celebrations of the occupants.
No one was injured in the fire, said the Sentul Fire and Rescue Station.
Firemen who rushed to the area after being summoned at 9.52 pm had much difficulty fighting the blaze as the houses were close to one another, resulting in the fire spreading fast, it said.
"We have yet to determine the exact number of houses destroyed or damaged. We are gathering the occupants, many of whom have returned to their villages to celebrate Aidilfitri," said station chief Zahari Mohamad.

Zahari said the source of water was far away and the firemen had to use water from tankers to fight the blaze.
Firemen were sent in five trucks, from the Sentul, Hang Tuah, Setiawangsa, Gombak Selatan and Sri Hartamas fire and rescue stations, he said.
"The cause of the fire and damage have yet to be determined. Fortunately, many of the occupants had returned to their villages for the Aidilfitri," he said.
One of the occupants, Endra Yusman, 30, said his parents had been living in the area for almost 50 years and it was fortunate that they had returned to their village in Kedah for the Aidilfitri.
Roslan Mun, 41, and his wife, Normiza Halim, 31, were watching television with about 20 family members in the living room when they heard someone shouting that there was a fire at a neighbouring house.
They quickly brought their children to safety and managed to save a few valuables, said Roslan. – Bernama, August 9, 2013.
