Burglars take RM1.5m in valuables, defecate in house
The damaged safe after it was prised open by the burglars
A businessman's Hari Raya celebration ended on a sour note when he returned home to find his house in Bandar Sungai Long broken into by burglars, who carted away RM1.5 million worth of valuables.
However, what irked Abdul Salam Ahmad, 49, the most was that the burglars finished the Raya cookies and defecated in the house.
The family had been away in Sungai Petani for a week and discovered the burglary only when they returned on Sunday night.
Salam found the house in a mess when the family returned at 9.30pm.
"They left the house in a total mess. They ransacked every room.
"Even our 100kg safe proved to be no hindrance for them, as they prised it open," he said yesterday.

"Even our 100kg safe proved to be no hindrance for them, as they prised it open," he said yesterday.
Salam lost RM1.5 million in valuables, including jewellery, 15 designer handbags, nine watches and RM70,000.
"Three of nine watches that they took were limited edition, costing RM200,000 each."
It is learnt that the burglars gained access into the house by climbing over the back wall and prising open the sliding door of the single-storey corner-lot bungalow.
Salam said the house was installed with a security alarm, but it was not activated and that the family's security guard was on leave.
"This is the first time that the house has been broken into in the last seven years.
"I am grateful that no one was at home when the incident occurred."
