Students cycle 342km to meet PM

Some 110 students made a memorable journey from Pekan to Putrajaya on their bicycles to meet Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Covering about 342km over four days, the students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang and SMK Tengku Abdullah Pekan arrived at the Prime Minister’s office yesterday.

Najib, who is Pekan MP, commended their effort and said their determination was a source of success for the younger generation.

“This expedition reflects the strong aim of the students to succeed in the future,” he said.

The students were flagged off on Monday by Peramu Jaya assemblyman Ibrahim Awang Ismail from Najib’s residence in Pekan.

University vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim said the event was to forge closer ties among students and to foster the 1Malaysia spirit.
