Consumer rebates for greener appliances
The government is expected to introduce rebates for refrigerators, air-conditioners and chillers for qualified consumers to improve energy efficiency in the country.
Under the initiative, qualified consumers will be given a rebate of RM200 for a new refrigerator and RM100 for an air-conditioner. Both are household items while the chillers are for commercial use and an announcement on the rebate for it will be made on July 7.
This was stated by the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry, secretary general, Datuk Loo Took Gee at the ETP Progress Update Six here today.

SAVE will be implemented through the collaboration between the Ministry and utility companies, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Sarawak Electricity Bhd and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd as well as the participating appliance manufacturing companies.
