Burn victim confirmed as N. Sembilan missing person

TORCHED: The vehicle that was set on fire in Happy Garden yesterday

The charred remains found in an old Honda Civic car in Happy Garden have been identified as that of a car workshop worker.

Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the man identified after a post mortem was reported missing in Seremban on April 8.

"The wife confirmed his identity and said that the car belonged to her late husband," he told reporters here today.

Wan Abdul Bari said the 90 per cent burnt body was identified via several marks found on the body.

The man was found dead with stab wounds in the chest and the neck strangled before burnt in a Honda Civic in Happy Garden, Brickfields.

He also said that he will submit investigation papers on yesterday's illegal gathering at KL Sentral Station to the Atorney-General's Chambers.

"We are completing investigation and will determine whether or not they can be charged under Section 27 (5) of the Police Act," he added.

Three Keadilan Daily journalists and a Selangor TV photographer were among 40 people detained at a 'Jelajah Mahasiswa Selamatkan Rakyat' programme organised by Solidarity Mahasiswa Malaysia (SMM).

KUALA LUMPUR: A man who was stabbed, strangled and burnt in his car at Happy Garden here yesterday may be the same person reported missing in Negri Sembilan two days ago.

Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the vehicle, a green Honda Civic, belonged to the missing person but they had yet to confirm if the identity of the charred remains.

“We notified the family of the missing person, who was in his 30s, that his car has been found and we are now trying to identify the body," he told The Malay Mail yesterday.

"Investigations indicated the victim was stabbed and strangled before he was burnt."

It is learnt police may use DNA testing to identify the body as it was not possible to get the victim’s fingerprints as the body was too severely burnt.

Yesterday morning, a passer-by, who saw four men in a white Perodua Myvi dousing liquid on the Honda Civic and setting it on fire, contacted police at 3.30am.
