Riduan Masmud, 41, is facing a charge under Section 276 of the Penal Code for raping a 13-year-old schoolgirl inside a car near the Kinasom waterfall at about 10am on Feb 18 this year.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The case caught national attention when Riduan married the schoolgirl on May 7 under Syariah law.
However, the prosecution decided to pursue the case amidst an uproar among civil society groups demanding prosecution continued as the marriage occurred after the alleged rape.
