The Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Jailani Johari said Tan Jye Yee, 25, and Vivian Lee, 24, would be called up to give a statement on the case, which drew much protest from various quarters.

"The MCMC will call them up to assist investigation into the case in the immediate future. At the moment, we leave it to the MCMC to carry out the investigation," he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.

The couple, who were former students of the National University of Singapore, had insulted the fasting month of Ramadan by uploading a photograph of themselves eating bak kut teh (a pork dish) with the greeting 'Selamat Berbuka Puasa with bak kut teh ...fragrant, delicious and appetising' together with the 'halal' logo.

Today, another facebook account had uploaded a 'berbuka puasa' (breaking of the fast) advertisement that humiliated the Ramadan with the photograph of roasted pork which carried the halal logo.

Commenting on the matter, Jailani said it had been referred to the MCMC which confirmed that the account was created by a user from abroad.

"The MCMC will lodge a report with the management of facebook and asked them to stop or erase the account," he said.

Meanwhile, Jailani advised facebook users, especially Muslims, to report directly to the administration of the social website or MCMC if there were instances of people insulting the sanctity of Islam in the social website. --
