Snatch thief slapped and kicked by grandma

A 65-year-old grandmother put up a fight against a snatch thief before surrendering her handbag containing RM250 in cash and personal documents.

Minah Mohamad was walking with her three grandchildren some 50m from their home in Taman Sri Indah here at about 10.30pm on Saturday when two men on a motorcycle tailed them.

One of the men then snatched Minah's handbag, but instead of giving in Minah slapped and kicked the assailant while holding firm to her bag.

The woman kept her assailant at bay for about five minutes but the younger man managed to overpower her.

Minah fell face down and sprained her left arm while the snatch thieves escaped.

Dungun OCPD Supt Dahlan Mohd Noor said the victim had been sent to Dungun Hospital for treatment.

“She sustained only minor injuries but doctors are keeping her for further observation,” he said.
