Father finds kidnapped teens after more than 50km search

A father’s love knows no bounds as proven by a 39-year-old padi farmer who rescued his two daughters from the clutches of a kidnapper yesterday after a search spanning over 50km.

The girls, aged 14 and 12, were believed to have been kidnapped at 5.30pm on Saturday near a sundry shop not far from their house in Kampung Perepat, Kota Sarang Semut.

It is learnt that the suspected kidnapper had bundled the girls into his car while they were walking near the shop before taking them on a joy ride to Yan and Pendang districts.

It is believed that the older girl was also raped by her alleged kidnapper in Tokai, Pendang.

The farmer only realised that his daughters were missing when he returned home at 9pm.

Failing to find them after contacting their friends as well as relatives, he went to search for them on his motorcycle.

He rode towards Yan and Pendang and when he arrived in Kuala Sala, he noticed a Perodua Kancil being driven in a suspicious manner.

He tailed the car and when it stopped at a traffic light he saw his 12-year-old daughter in the back seat.

He chased after the car for 12km and with the help of others in the area caught the suspect when he stopped at a petrol station in Tebengau near Kuala Kedah and rescued his tearful daughters.

Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Adzaman Mohd Jan confirmed the case and said the girls had been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for an examination.

The suspect has been remanded.
