Ex-Simpang Renggam detainees held over heists

Four former Simpang Renggam detainees who were released after the repeal of the Emergency Ordinance (EO) Act recently were were a arrested for a spate of crimes here.

They were part of a gang of robbers linked to several robberies at budget hotels and reflexology centres in the district. They were nabbed after their latest heist at a reflexology centre in Jalan Panglima in Batu 9, here, on Saturday.









Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said police received a call at 12.15am and a team of policemen were dispatched to the reflexology centre where they cordoned off the building.

"Two of the suspects jumped from the first floor of the building but injured themselves in the fall. They were nabbed and sent to hospital."

Rashid said two other suspects hiding in the centre were arrested a few minutes later.

Rashid said checks later revealed that all four suspects had been detained under the EO for committing robberies and other serious crimes.

"One of them also tested positive for drug abuse."
