A 49-year-old odd-job worker thought he could evade police in connection with a child abuse case if he shaved his head.
GEORGE TOWN: A 49-year-old odd-job worker thought he could evade police in connection with a child abuse case if he shaved his head.
His action backfired when one of the policemen recognised him as he tried to sneak into his home in Jalan Perak yesterday.
State acting police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said the raiding team detained him when he arrived home with his new look about midnight.
"We are waiting for the girl's medical report before handing over the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor's office for action."
Police have obtained an order from the magistrate's court to remand the man until Friday.
The girl appeared to be in a jovial mood when Rahim visited her at Penang Hospital yesterday.
Accompanied by her mother, who only identified herself as Chuah, she looked a picture of health when Rahim presented her with an early Chinese New Year hamper.
The girl, locked up in her house alone, was rescued by the police who were alerted by neighbours after hearing her incessant cries.
