Kuala Langat to tear down billboards

Billboards in Kuala Langat district featuring the 1Malaysia logo have to be taken down by the end of the month or action will be taken, said its council head.

Kuala Langat District Council (MDKL) president Abdul Razak Jaafar said the council would compound those responsible for putting up the logo and later issue a court notice if they fail to pay the fine.

“We were told not to allow any 1Malaysia advertisements in the district,” he said here yesterday.

Asked if the federal government’s promotion of the 1Malaysia logo on billboards was against the council by-law, Razak said he was not sure.

“For now, we will remove all advertisements featuring the 1Malaysia logo,” he said.

He also said that a 1Malaysia banner put up by Morib assemblyman Hasiman Sidom would be removed immediately.Abdul Razak, however, urged the Selangor government to give a detailed and clearer directive.
He claimed the circular on the matter was too brief and “not clear”.
