City police have identified the policeman responsible for firing the tear gas into Tung Shin Hospital compound during an illegal assembly in the capital on July 9.
City police CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said a police report was lodged against him and investigation had been held.
“The matter has been referred to the Attorney General's chambers and no further action could be taken against him due to the absence of witnesses.”
However, he said, they will take disciplinary action against the policeman for breaching the standard operating procedures(SOP) in dispersing the crowd
The Star had reported Tuesday a Health Ministry probe has confirmed that police had acted unethically and breached the SOP when dispersing Bersih 2.0 demonstrators at the hospital.
Home Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Mahmood Adam was quoted in a statement that the policeman involved would be referred to the police disciplinary committee.
