Police complete investigation paper on Mat Sabu
Police have completed the investigation paper on Mohamad Sabu in relation to remarks allegedly made during a speech last month, national news agency, Bernama, reported today.
The PAS deputy president (picture), more popularly known as Mat Sabu, had touched on the 1950 Bukit Kepong incident in which he said that Mat Indera’s contributions to the nation’s independence struggle had been forgotten following Umno’s alleged whitewashing of the country’s history.
Mat Indera is a Malay communist leader who led the guerrilla assault against the Bukit Kepong police station manned by policemen under the British administration.
Bernama quoted Penang Police Chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob as saying that the paper had been sent to the federal police headquarters at Bukit Aman today and that the matter would be referred to the Public Prosecutor's office who would then decide whether Mat Sabu would be charged over the incident.
Mat Sabu had provided police with a statement on Sunday, he added.
Ayub said the PAS deputy president would also be investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code.
