Additional policemen recruited in the hunt for runaway accused
24-year-old accused, Muhammad Juli Had escaped while being escorted into a police vehicle at the Kuantan Courts Complex after pleading guilty on committing gang robbery
Additional police personnel have been recruited to help hunt the 24-year-old accused who escaped while being escorted into a police vehicle at the Kuantan Courts Complex here on Thursday.
District deputy police chief Superintendent Abdul Aziz Ahmad said the department have intensified their search for Muhammad Juli Hadi and believed that he was still hiding in the forest not far from the court complex.
He said police have mounted roadblocks at various spots here while search parties along with the K-9 dog unit are scouring the secondary forest area along the Kuantan-Kemaman Bypass stretch.

Youth going to jail for 30 years and 16 rotan for rape and robbery.
Mohd Karimi Kamal Arifin being led out of court yesterday.
An unemployed youth was sentenced by the Sessions Court yesterday to a maximum 30 years' jail and 16 strokes of the rotan for rape, robbery and breaking into a hostel of an undergraduate.
Mohd Karimi Kamal Arifin, 22, of Lorong Mata Kuching here, was found guilty of raping a 19-year-old Universiti Teknologi Mara student at Kolej Siswi Tun Mutahir at 2.20pm on April 18.
Judge Abu Bakar Katar sentenced him to a maximum 30 years' jail and 10 strokes of the rotan.
On the second charge of robbing the girl of a handphone and RM133, besides causing her grievous hurt at 2.25pm at the same place and date, Karimi was sentenced to 12 years' jail and six strokes of the rotan.
On the third charge of breaking into the hostel on the same day, he was sentenced to two years' jail.
Karimi was not represented while deputy public prosecutor Mahmoodah Abdul Latiff prosecuted.

Two get seven years in Sosilawati murders
Two men pleaded guilty today to disposing of evidence in the murder of cosmetics millionaire Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and three others at the Banting Magistrate’s Court here today.
Odd-job worker U. Suresh, 26, and mechanic K. Sarawanan, 19, pleaded guilty to four counts of causing the disappearance of evidence of an offence committed, under Section 201 of the Penal Code.
Sarawanan admitted to burning the bodies of Sosilawati and her companions, while Suresh said he had scattered the ashes in Sungai Panchau near here between 8.45pm and 9.30pm on August 30.
Both were believed to have been working at the time for main suspect lawyer N. Pathmanabhan, who has been accused of masterminding the murders.

Application by Benjy for release dismissed by High Court - Benjy will be held for 2 years in Muar.
The High Court here has dismissed a harbeas corpus application filed by actor Khaeryll Benjamin Ibrahim - better known as Benjy - that sought his release from detention.
Judge Mohd Sofian Abd Razak said on Wednesday that Benjy's re-arrest on March 25 under Section 3 of the Dangerous Drugs Act (Special Preventive Measures) was valid.
The court was also informed by Senior Federal Counsel Najib Zakaria that Benjy was sent to a rehabilitation centre in Muar, Johor on Wednesday morning under the directive of Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop.
