DAP’s Ngeh and Nga in Perak

Two of the most prominent DAP politicians in Perak happen to be cousins.

Ngeh Koo Ham and Nga Kor Ming, both lawyers, are often accused by their opponents — and very often party insiders — of running “the state chapter of their party like their own little fiefdom.”

According to Singapore’s The Sunday Times, the two have a sizeable grassroots support and have “risen in prominence of late now that DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has left his Ipoh Timur stronghold for Johor is a high-stakes game to win federal power.”

GE13: Kong says Ngeh’s claims are ‘ridiculous’

Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha

MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, brushed aside state DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham's claim that he was too afraid to face him when campaigning at a wet market.

Kong said a statement posted Ngeh's Facebook page on Monday, implied that he succumbed to public pressure and had no choice but leave the premises.

The statement, written in Mandarin, on Ngeh's page read: Ngeh Koo Ham and First Admiral (R) Imran bumped into AES' Minister Kong Cho Ha and Ting Tai Fook when visiting the Looking Good wet market.

As polling nears, Perak DAP reminds voters of 2009 power grab

Perak DAP reminded voters today of the power grab that toppled Pakatan Rakyat (PR) from the state in 2009 as it moved to reignite the anti-BN sentiment that rocked the northern state for over a year after the controversial putsch. At a press conference in Ipoh, state DAP chief Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham told voters to “remain angry” at Barisan Nasional (BN) when they head to the ballot boxes this Election 2013, and punish the ruling pact for allegedly using illegal means to capture state power four years ago.

“They must tell all Malaysians and the world that they are principled people who were angry with BN for its power grab in 2009 and will remain angry with BN until BN is punished and justice meted out,” the Sitiawan assemblyman said in a statement.

Nga says 'sorry' for remarks 'Metallic black' statement taken out of context, says Perak DAP secretary

Perak DAP secretary and Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming has apologised for calling Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir “metallic black” and causing an outrage among the Indian community.

In a statement, Nga said: “To all who feel offended by my remarks, I wish to say sorry and apologise to them, including Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir."

However, he still defended his stance saying his statement was taken out of context since it referred to the Barisan Nasional’s Perak political takeover in 2009. He said it was an illegal power grab which was not endorsed by the will of the voters.

Replying to a question from Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham (DAP-Beruas) in the Dewan Rakyat today, she said the responsibility to settle the bills is actually stated in the agreement between the consumers and the service providers.

“If the consumers do not settle their bills, the providers can demand payment using the procedures stated in the law. In this respect (IWK), it is the Water Services Industry Act," she said.
