Azamuddin Omar, the close friend of Aminulrasyid Amzah who was shot dead by police following a car chase, was called up -- for the third time -- by police today to have another statement recorded.

The 15-year-old schoolboy, who is the main witness to the shooting of Aminulrasyid, also 15, went to the Selangor police contingent headquarters here at 5.30pm, accompanied by lawyer N. Surendran. At press time, the session had yet to end.

CHOKED with emotion, the student who was with Aminulrasyid Amzah on the morning he was shot dead during a police chase on April 26 today went public with his account of what happened.

Azamuddin Omar, 15, said Aminulrasyid’s fear of being reprimanded by his family for driving his sister’s car without her consent was what made his friend ignore police orders to pull over during the high-speed pursuit, which ultimately led to his death.

Azamuddin provided a personal account of the incident at a press conference at Aminulrasyid's house in Section 11 today.

Malaysia Anwar loses last bid to have sodomy charge dropped-Court refuses to drop sex charges

Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial will continue next week after the country's highest court rejected on Tuesday his final appeal to have the charge against him dropped.

Anwar's lawyers argued before the Federal Court that the charge was a political conspiracy against him and that a medical examination on his accuser found no conclusive physical signs of sodomy.

The appeal was dismissed by the three-man panel of judges who ruled that the medical examination report needed to be analysed along with DNA test results of swabs taken from Anwar's accuser that have yet to be released.
