Despite rebuke, Nizar still wants audience with Johor Sultan

Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin has said he still wants to meet the Sultan of Johor to explain his May 28 tweets, a day after the state ruler had rebuked the PAS leader for criticising his decision to bid for a coveted car registration number.

Nizar, a vocal PAS leader, had earned the Johor palace’s wrath last month for tweeting remarks seen as critical of the monarch’s RM520,000 bid for the coveted WWW 1 car registration number.

OFFICIAL records show that the strongest critics of the sultan of Johor and health minister in the WWW vehicle registration issue, had themselves used their positions to obtain "golden" numbers for their cars.

Former Perak menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, whose plate number AGS 10, once adorned his Toyota Camry, had used the number until the car was sold.

The Camry was procured by the office of the state secretary in January 2009 and was the same one that turned turtle in front of the Perak Umno building in January 2010. Nizar, who suffered minor injuries in the accident, extricated himself out of the vehicle and waved to the crowd.

Nizar later admitted hat he had exceeded the speed limit.

WWW 1 bid: Nizar being investigated under Sedition Act over remarks about Johor Sultan

: Former Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin is being investigated under the Sedition Act for his alleged remarks over the Sultan of Johor's successful bid for the car registration number WWW 1.

It is learnt Johor police have formed a task force to investigate after five police reports were lodged in the state over the matter since Tuesday.

Marriage on the cards for Kelantan Sultan

Kelantan may be welcoming a Raja Perempuan after the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, hinted that he may be getting married.

In a special new conference held on the launch of the Sultan of Kelantan Foundation here, he was asked whether a wedding was on the cards.

With a smile on his face, the Sultan replied: "InsyaAllah (God willing), I'm praying for it, and InsyaAllah, God will make it happen."

Tengku Muhammad Fa-iz Petra ibni Sultan Ismail Petra, the younger brother of the Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V, was appointed the Tengku Mahkota Kelantan and heir to the Kelantan throne with immediate effect.

State Secretary Datuk Mohd Aiseri Alias said the decision was made by the State Council of Succession which met Monday and chaired by its chairman, Tengku Abdul Halim Al-Haj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim.

The ceremony to present the letter of appointment as Tengku Mahkota Kelantan was held at Istana Negeri in Kubang Kerian at 2pm.

Mohd Aiseri told a press conference that the meeting of the Council of Succession was attended by 14 of its 15 members except Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah whose membership ceased automatically for being absent before without the permission of the council.

One of the two women brought into the royal suite at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore is the second wife of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Ismail Petra, it has been revealed.

The habeas corpus proceedings at the Special Court today, brought by lawyers representing the Sultan of Kelantan, Tuanku Ismail Petra Sultan Yahya Petra is probably the first case in the world for a State Ruler to seek medical treatment of his choice.

The application to the Special Court was submitted last Friday after three attempts by the ailing Kelantan ruler to leave the State had been rejected last week, as the palace confrontation there worsened.

The Sultan of Kelantan has expressed happiness on returning to his palace a day after his discharge from a Kota Baru hospital to the point of asking for ice-cream as a treat, a royal relative said today.

Tuanku Ismail Petra is also accepting treatment in his Istana Mahkota after refusing similar medical expertise during his five-day stay at the Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Kubang Kerian, his elder sister Tengku Merjan Sultan Yahya Petra.

The ailing Sultan of Kelantan, Tuanku Ismail Petra, whose poor health has resulted in squabbling between two of his sons over who will act in his place, is to remain warded at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian for follow-up treatment for his heart problem, comptroller of the Kelantan Royal Household, Datuk Abdul Halim Hamad said today.

Bernama quoted Abdul Halim as saying there were no plans as yet to transfer the ruler to another hospital, such as Kuala Lumpur Hospital. He said the sultan was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday.

The Sultan's second wife, Che Puan Elia Suhana Ahmad, visited her husband at the hospital last night, Bernama reported.

She arrived at the hospital at about 11pm, accompanied by a policewoman and two male aides, and was at the Royal Ward for about two and half hours before leaving about 1.30am today. Elia Suhana was said to be overseas, but returned yesterday after being informed that the Sultan had been admitted to HUSM, Bernama reported.

The Sultan's family has been embroiled in the squabble between the royal brothers for months, especially while the sultan was in hospital in Singapore for eight months.

Earlier this week he was reported to have made two abortive attempts to leave the state for treatment.

Kelantan Sultan's wife in hospital to evade police

The Raja Perempuan Kelantan Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid (pic) has been holed up at a hospital here since last night to evade police arrest and to be by the side of her husband, the Sultan of Kelantan, Tuanku Ismail Petra, who was reportedly forcibly warded there.

She told The Malay Mail by telephone this morning that the Sultan was being held against his will and that the police had ignored his orders to take him back to the palace.

Tengku Anis, who spent most the night on the floor outside Royal Ward on Level 8 of the Universiti Sains Malaysia hospital, later managed to enter the ward and lock herself in.

Acting Kelantan Sultan Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra said his father, Sultan Ismail Petra, was being placed under police security for his own safety, in view of the recent shooting of a palace guard in Tumpat.

However, lawyers claiming to represent the Sultan and his consort Raja Perempuan Tengku Anis Tengku Hamid, said they were prevented by the police from seeing their clients on Wednesday.

Tengku Muhammad Faris, in a statement read out by Kelantan royal household comptroller Datuk Mohd Halim Hamad on Wednesday, said he had instructed state police chief Datuk Rahim Hanafi to provide around-the-clock security for the Sultan, who was admitted at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Hospital in Kubang Kerian on Tuesday for medical treatment.
