Saved by 'baby bump'

DAPHNE IKING (pic) looked radiant when met at a perfume launch event in KLCC recently.

But behind that beautiful smile, Daphne is nursing some cuts and bruises a fter falling into a manhole just a few days before.

“I was at Jalan Alor to have a dinner meeting with the Bella (ntv7) team and I was walking up and down the pavement trying to get a glimpse of the crew's car (they were lost).

"Then I spotted them, so I ran to grab their attention that they had found the place — and then I fell unglamorously into a manhole!” said the Sabahan beauty.

She was on her own, while her husband Azmi Abdul Rahman (Joe) waited for their table with her three-year-old daughter Isobel Daniella, unaware she had fallen.

Iking’s ex-hubby bares all over why he had to ‘wash dirty linen in public’

Triangular affair: Chong (left) was quite sure that Iking was having an affair with Choy but he could not sit down and do nothing when he found out that Isobel was not his child.

Some journalists covering the sensational Daphne Iking enticement case found Ryan Chong Yiing Yih unapproachable.

The perception may be justified as the TV personality’s former husband kept his distance from the press, looking serious and avoiding eye contact with journalists.

It was the opposite image for Darren Choy Khin Ming, the man Chong accused of enticing his wife even though he knew that she was married. He blamed Choy of wanting to have sex with her then. Arguably, most journalists were with Team Darren. He is handsome and has a ready smile.

So, it came as a surprise when on the day Choy was acquitted of the charge, Chong agreed to an interview. (Choy had apologised openly in court to Chong for having embarrassed him over the affair). Apparently, the businessman’s lawyers had given him specific instructions not to comment on the case.

And, at the interview on Monday, the 33-year-old, six-footer came across as a “gentle giant”.

Daphne Iking’s ex-husband Ryan Chong Yiing Yih also had an affair while they were still married, the Magistrate's court heard Monday.

Businessman Chong, 32, who has taken corporate figure Darren Choy Khin Ming, 45, to court in a private summons for "enticing his wife", confessed that he had "met someone" while working in China.

When cross-examined by Choy's counsel Datuk Jagjit Singh, he admitted he had met a guest-relations officer (GRO) named Serena in a karaoke club in Shanghai, in June 2007.

However, he said he confessed the matter to a pregnant Iking a month later, in July, seeking her forgiveness because he felt he had done wrong, and said she had forgiven him.

Jagjit then put it to him that he was lying, saying that he had confessed to Iking because Serena had contacted Iking via her (Iking's) blog, which was the reason he had made the confession to Iking before she could confront him about it.

Chong disagreed, saying Iking was not aware of the matter before he told her about it.

He also denied paying Serena RMB2mil (about RM941,000) to buy her silence.
