Cosplay killing: No indication girl was raped, post-mortem reveals

The body of Ng Yuk Tim was found stuffed into a green suitcase, clad in a T-shirt and underwear, but did not show any signs of sexual abuse.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said a post-mortem conducted at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) showed that Ng died of severe head injuries due to three heavy blows to the head and there was no evidence to suggest she was raped.

He also said her body bore no post-mortem injuries from placing her into the suitcase.

"She was discovered in a fetal position," he said when contacted Wednesday.

"There were no signs that her joints were broken in order to fit her into the suitcase.

"We have recorded the statements of more than two individuals, including the victim's parents as well as the 23-year-old main suspect.

Cosplay killing: Suspect’s confession not admissible in court

A confession alone is not admissible in court and it does not mean that the person who confessed has committed a crime, said a criminologist.

Prof Dr P. Sundramoorthy, from the School of Sciences in Universiti Sains Malaysia, said that the law was amended a few years ago so that confessions did not carry weight in court anymore.

“We can’t make assumptions. A confession alone does not mean the person is guilty.

The person could be mentally ill or covering up for someone,” he said.

He was commenting on the 23-year-old man who was remanded on Wednesday for the murder of 15-year-old Ng Yuk Tim.

The man supposedly confessed killing Ng to Selangor Community Policing founder Kuan Chee Hong.

Suspect admitted to the killing, says crime watcher

A community crime watcher said the man who last saw 15-year-old Ng Yuk Tim alive had confessed to killing her.

The 23-year-old suspect, who initially claimed that he had dropped the girl off at the Kelana Jaya LRT station at 2pm on Monday, had admitted that he lied, said Selangor Community Policing founder Kuan Chee Hong (pic).

He repeatedly questioned the man on what happened to the girl before he got the confession, Kuan told reporters after handing the suspect to the Petaling Jaya police.

Kuan added that the suspect confessed to trying to rape Ng in his house and had hit her with a dumbbell when she resisted.

Kuan said he met Yuk Tim’s mother at a restaurant in Kelana Jaya after she asked him to help her find her daughter.

Cosplay killer says too late for regrets.

"Why did you do this?" asked reporters as the suspected killer of 15-year-old Ng Yuk Tim was hauled into the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court on Wednesday morning.

"I don't know...," he replied nonchalantly in a daze.

When asked if he regretted his crime, the 23-year-old said, "It's too late for me to regret."

The man is being remanded by police until October 29 to assist in investigations into the murder of Yuk Tim who was found dead and stuffed in a suitcase on Monday.

Petaling Jaya OCPD ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed confirmed this, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Teenager found dead in suitcase

A 15-year-old girl who was reported missing is believed to have been murdered, with the suspected killer in police custody.

The 23 year-old suspect, a male friend of the girl, led police to her body which was in a suitcase beside Jalan Kebun in Shah Alam.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said the suspect confessed to killing the girl in his house and was brought in to the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 6.30pm.

“He led police to her body in a luggage bag at the side of the road near a kerb at about 8.30pm,” he told a press conference at the site.

Man found dead with hands and legs bound

Policemen removing Ibnu Panaharan’s body in Kampung Binaung Baru, Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu, yesterday.



A man was found dead, with his hands and legs bound, and mouth covered with a piece of cloth in Menggatal, near here, yesterday. There were also wounds on his neck.

Police identified the deceased as Ibnu Panaharan, 29. They believed he was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped into some bushes. He had been dead less than 24 hours when his body was discovered at 7am.

His body was discovered by two policemen who were doing a background check on a multi-purpose vehicle that was abandoned by the road, near a water tank, at Kampung Binaung Baru.

City police chief Assistant Commissioner Jauteh Dikun said police had classified the case as murder. They believed more than one person was involved, he added.

Two former police commandos were freed today after the Court of Appeal allowed their appeal and overturned their conviction for the 2006 murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu (pic).

A three-member bench comprising judges Datuk Seri Mohamed Apandi Ali, Datuk Linton Albert and Datuk Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat made the unanimous decision to allow the appeal by former chief inspector Azilah Hadri and former corporal Sirul Azhar Umar.

Five gangsters shot dead in Penang

Police gunned down five Gang 04 members who are linked to at least 10 murders in a shootout at an apartment in Sungai Nibong.

Ballistic tests on the three firearms recovered from them showed that the five were involved in at least 12 shooting cases in three states.

Police believe they have now solved at least 10 murder cases in Penang (seven), Kedah (two) and Negri Sembilan (one), and two attempted murders in Penang.

The dead have been identified as J. Gobinath, 31, R. Ramesh, 27, N. Rakan, 25, M. Suresh, 25, and M. Gobinath, 21.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police laid an ambush at the apartment block at about 4.30am yesterday before moving to the unit on the 11th floor where the suspects were staying.

MyWatch chairman completes surgery, bullet taken for analysis

The five-hour surgery to remove a bullet lodged near Mywatch chairman R. Sri Sanjeevan's ribcage was conducted successfully and ended at 7pm at the Serdang Hospital today.
MyWatch advisor S. Gobi Krishnan said the bullet was taken to the police forensic laboratory in Cheras for analysis upon the directive of Bukit Aman CID director, Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah and Sanjeevan was recuperating.

"Hadi has assured the family that the investigations would be monitored by him and the family was told to meet him next week to assist further in the investigations,"

"However, we're still not sure who would be investigating this case as of now." he added.

Sri Sanjeevan, 29, was critically injured in the right rib after he was hit by a shot fired by two men on a motorcycle at a junction in Taman Cempaka, Bahau at about 4.30pm on July 27.

He is currently being treated at the Serdang Hospital after being transferred from the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban.

Taxi driver in banker’s assassin hunt hit with firearms charges

Taxi driver Chew Siang Chee, arrested by police for allegedly transporting the hitman who killed banker Ahmad Hussain Najadi, today claimed trial to the possession of a firearm and ammunition at the Sessions Court here.

The 45-year-old was detained shortly after the assassination in which the founder of Arab-Malaysian Development Bank was gunned down in broad daylight while leaving the Kuan Yin Temple in Lorong Ceylon here on July 29.

According to a report by The Star, Chew pleaded not guilty to charges of possessing a pistol and four bullets under sections 8 and 8(a) of the Firearms Act.

Illegal possession of guns is punishable by imprisonment of up to 14 years and at least four strokes of the cane, while unlawfully having ammunition attracts a penalty of up to seven years’ jail and a fine of up to RM10,000.

Chong Wei Jie, the 25-year-old plantation assistant manager who escaped his abductors in Jolo Island, Philippines has returned to his hometown in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

The still traumatised Wei Jie who underwent nine months in captivity arrived in Kota Kinabalu late last night and was flown back to Port Dickson after receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said they will let him (Wei Jie) rest and spend some time with his family before asking him to return to Sabah to assist investigations into the abduction.

Man shot dead at Penang's Anson Road traffic light

A man was executed gangland style after stopping at a traffic light at Anson Road here.

Police identified the deceased as K. Veerapan, 37, who was gunned down at point blank range by a pillion rider at around 11.50am on Thursday.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the deceased lived in Air Itam, Penang and has three previous convictions for cases involving narcotics.

The victim was driving a BMW car bore a Kuala Lumpur registration plate, although it is speculated that the car was borrowed from a friend.

ACP Gan said the assailant fired at least 14 times at Veerapan, with 10 bullets hitting him in the cheek, neck and right abdomen.

First a warning letter, then six shots fired at bungalow in Pulau Tikus

At least six shots were fired at a bungalow of a businessman in Pulau Tikus early Thursday, but no one was injured in the incident, police said.

OCPD Gan Kong Meng said the businessman had earlier lodged a police report claiming that he received an extortion letter together with six bullets.

Only the businessman's 29-year-old son, his wife and their maid were at home during the 1.15am incident.


ACP Gan said the couple had a shock when they discovered fragments of broken window panels and bullet marks at the house here in Jalan Utama.

The shooting spree in Penang continued for a third day in a row, with the latest victim being a 43-year-old chief bouncer of a dance club here.

The victim survived the attack, with only a single bullet hitting him in the left thigh.

Star Online reported that a gunman shot at him seven times in front of the entrance to entertainment outlets in a mall in Jalan Datuk Keramat.

Quoting sources, it reported that the victim, known only as Too Pek, had been talking to the gunman at the open carpark who then shot him as he headed towards the entertainment outlets.

Cops name AmBank founder’s shooter, nab 3 other suspects

City police today named Kong Swee Kwan as the main suspect behind the high-profile murder of Arab-Malaysian Bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi.

Three other people, believed to be involved in the killing, have also been arrested.

Kong, 44, is at large but is believed to be still in the country, Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah told reporters.

The suspected gunman, who was previously named as “Sei Ngan Chai”, a popular moniker in Cantonese for those wearing spectacles as it means “Four-Eyed Man”, has a record of possession of stolen goods and extortion, he said.

A second suspect, a 42-year-old man, has been taken in for questioning.

Motorist shot at close range by 2 men on bike

A man was shot by two assailants on a motorcyle while he was driving at a housing area in Chemor near here on Wednesday night.

The 29-year-old victim received four gun shot wounds at close range when the assailants took aim at his life at Taman Klebang Putra, about 18km from here.

The assailants neared the victim's car before they fired six shots, four of which hit the victim. The incident happened around 11.15pm.

According to Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong, there were two other people inside the car who were believed to be the victim's family members.

More bullets fly in Penang, third man shot in 2 days

A 43-year-old man was shot at outside a night club in George Town, The Star Online reported today, becoming the third target of hitmen in Penang in the past two days.

The man, said to be an underworld leader in the state, survived the barrage of seven bullets with only one hitting him in the left thigh.

He was rushed to the Penang Hospital and is reportedly in a stable condition.

Citing unnamed sources, the news portal reported the victim, known only by his nickname Too Pek (Uncle Pig in the Hokkien dialect), was shot at by a man he had been speaking with earlier at an open car park near entertainment outlets in a mall in Jalan Datuk Keramat.

Police have recovered seven bullet casings and detained two foreigners who were said to have been on the scene attempting to clean up the evidence.

Businessman's car gets blown up

A wealthy businessman, who owns several restaurants and nightclubs in the city, escaped death when his luxury car was blown up even as he was in the car. Both he and his driver escaped unhurt.

A bomb strapped below the vehicle apparently exploded sending ball bearings ripping through the boot of the Jaguar.

The businessman, a Datuk Seri, and his driver were passing Taman Taynton View in Cheras on Monday night when the device was detonated on Monday night.

The businessman, however, is said to be a former detainee under the Emergency Ordinance and had been detained in Simpang Renggam for more than a year.

According to the report lodged by his driver, they were driving past Jalan Nadchantiram in the area at about 8.45pm when the back of the car blew up. He said they stopped the car and rushed out.
