Thousands throng thanksgiving rally by DAP

The rally organised by the Federal Territory and Selangor DAP to thank the rakyat for their support during the general election drew thousands.

It was a peaceful gathering as the crowd, mostly dressed in black, calmly listened to speeches by leaders including DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, DAP publicity chief Tony Pua and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

A recording of PAS member Datuk Tamrin Ghafar Baba was played to the crowd as he was under police custody.

The rally was held at Padang Timur near Amcorp Mall here last night.

Lim, in his speech said the results of the GE13 was not a “Chinese tsunami” but a Malaysian tsunami.

Fernandes does his first firing in Apprentice Asia

Reality TV show The Apprentice Asia has taken off with one contestant being “fired” by AirAsia boss Tan Sri Tony Fernandes after a premiere that saw two teams competing to sell fish in their first challenge.

The show, which made its debut Wednesday on AXN, saw the 12 contestants being split into two groups of men and women in the first challenge to sell fish at a local market here.

Both teams made losses in their sales but the men's group, Team Mavericks incurred a bigger loss.

Hence, one of its members had to face being eliminated from the show or “fired” by Fernandes.

F&B company founder Hendy Setiono, from Indonesia, was sent packing last night, after his team was defeated by the women's team, Team Apex.

The show takes on an elimination competition format whereby the 12 contestants, made up of Asia-based business executives, will go against each other for the opportunity to work for one of Fernandes' businesses.

Khairy says ‘not one shred of evidence’ to suggest polls fraud

Khairy Jamaluddin has defended the manner in which Elections 2013 was conducted, arguing in a letter to international current affairs magazine The Economist that there was not “one shred of evidence” of fraud in the polls.

The newly-appointed sports minister also took a swipe at Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, by accusing the opposition leader of not accepting the results because “of his own personal, lifelong ambition to become prime minister.”

“Allegations that foreign nationals were paid as ‘phantom voters’ have proved to be false, with not even one recorded case on polling day. All votes were cast and counted in front of representatives from all the contesting parties who signed off on the results.
