Two-year-old makes touching request at her dad’s funeral

Seeing her by the casket that carried the remains of her dad, a two-year-old girl asked her grandmother if she could lie beside her father.

It bled the hearts of those who heard Angel's request. The little girl did not know that her father P. Rooneskumar (pic), 29, was never coming back.

The pub supervisor, the third of four siblings, was gunned down outside a pub here while trying to calm down a drunk customer at 2am on Saturday.

He was cremated in Pagoh, about 60km from here on Monday.

Rooneskumar, a single father, died on the way to hospital while his colleague, who came between him and the drunk, was wounded in the leg.

Rooneskumar's mother, R. Singam, 64, said what her son did was heroic.

“I had raised Angel since she was a baby and she has been asking about her father since that day,” said Singam.

“That is why I took her to the funeral parlour to pay her last respects to him.”

“I want justice for this girl and also for me a mother who has lost a son,” said Singam tearfully.

Police have seized a Proton Saga said to have been left behind by the drunk gunman, who is on the police's wanted list.
