Baby left in temple

The baby boy who was found by a priest in Taman Nesa, Sitiawan, early yesterday morning.



Residents of Taman Nesa here were abuzz over the discovery of an infant placed inside a basket at a temple here early yesterday morning.

Mohd Shafarin Abd Samad, 22, said a priest stumbled upon the baby before alerting others about the shocking find.

He said the baby was found about 7.30am.

"The basket was placed on a table in the temple."

Shafarin said the baby was fully-clothed and looked healthy.









Manjung district police chief Assistant Commissioner Jaafar Baba, said police received a call from the priest who had gone to the temple for morning prayers.


"A physical check was carried out on the infant and we found no sign of injury.

"He has been referred to Seri Manjung Hospital for further checks," he added.

Jaafar said police would also inform the Welfare Department. "We will attempt to track down the parents."
