Pas to challenge election results in 6 state constituencies

Pas is expected to file six election petitions at the High Court here to challenge election results in six state constituencies.

The New Straits Times has been made to understand that the state seats concerned are Manjoi, Manong, Lubuk Merbau, Kamunting, Pasir Panjang and Selama.

Perak PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said the petitions would be filed as there was evidence of election fraud.

"The petitions that Pas would be filing are for seats where the party lost by less than 1,000 majority.

"Our team of lawyers, from the party headquarters and from Perak, are doing the necessary work to prepare the petitions," he said when contacted by the NST.

Nizar, who is also Perak Pakatan Rakyat chairman, said the legal team was in the midst of gathering evidence on various election offences defined under the Election Offences Act 1954.

In the recently held general election, Pas won five state seats, one down from six it won in the last election.
