GE13: Kampar BN candidate Lee denies using AP to buy RM3mil Lamborghini

Kampar MCA candidate Datuk Lee Chee Leong (seated, third from right) lodging a police report over claims made by DAP's Dr Ko Chung Sen at the Kampar police district headquarters in Kampar town on Wednesday.

Kampar Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Lee Chee Leong has denied misusing his approved permit (AP) to purchase an imported Lamborghini worth RM3mil.

"I must make it clear that I've never bought such a car. How the documents appeared, I have no idea," he told reporters in the Kampar MCA office here Wednesday.

Lee was responding to allegations made by his opponent for the parliamentary seat, DAP's Dr Ko Chung Sen.

At a press conference held earlier, Dr Ko alleged that Lee had misused his AP to buy an imported Lamborghini Aventador, registered on May 27 last year.

Dr Ko said the AP should have been used to buy a normal car to serve the people and not for Lee's own interests.

He had also produced a car's registration card with Lee's address and full name. The card also stated that customs duty for the car was exempted.

Lee said he has lodged a police report on the matter and will make a statutory declaration on Thursday denying that he bought the car.

"My lawyer will send him (Dr Ko) a letter of demand to ask him to clarify his statements and apologise by 12pm tomorrow (Thursday).

"Failing which, I will seriously consider taking legal action," Lee said.

Lee added that in late 2011, he had an AP as an MP and he approached a car dealer to get a car.

"But the dealer told me it would take six months to get an imported car.

"He then suggested that I get an already imported, reconditioned Toyota Vellfire. I traded in my own Mercedes to get that car," he said, adding that he needed a car to travel as the Deputy Home Minister.
