Security firm officer shot dead

An operations officer in a security company was shot dead by two gunmen on a motorcycle when he stopped his car at a traffic light junction, near Taman Sri Labu here yesterday.

The victim, James John, 45, was driving alone in a Honda Accord towards the city when the incident occurred at 2pm.

According to police, John's car had stopped behind three other vehicles at the traffic light when two men on a motorcycle rode up towards the driver's side and fired multiple shots at the victim from close range. Police, who arrived at the scene minutes later, found John slumped in the driver's seat.


Police are also waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain how many times the victim was shot. The police spokesman said they had yet to establish the motive.

Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Saiful Azly Kamaruddin urged witnesses to come forward.
