8 Filipino terror suspects taken to Tawau Court




Eight Filipinos accused of waging war against the Yang Dipertuan Agong and committing acts of terrorism had their charges read again without any plea recorded here today.


They were brought to the court handcuffed and in straight jackets, heavily escorted by the police in two trucks at about 9am.


High court judge Ravinthran Paramaguru presided while the prosecution was led by Federal Attorney General Tan Sri Gani Patail assisted by Datuk Nordin Hassan, the deputy head of the Prosecution Division (Policy) in the Attorney-General's Chambers and deputy public prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar.

The men, including two elderly individuals one of whom did not have any straight jacket but was handcuffed, were not represented.


They appeared haggard, with their heads down.


Mention dates were fixed in April to allow them to engage legal assistance eitheir from family members, the Philippine embassy, the Bar Council of Malaysia or the Sabah Law Association.
