PAS Spiritual Leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has welcomed the government's decision to allow political parties to air their general election manifesto over Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

The Kelantan menteri besar said the move was in accordance with Malaysia's position as a democratic country where leaders are elected through a legitimate voting process.

"I am more than agreeable (to the proposal)," he told reporters after witnessing the signing of a joint-venture agreement between the Gua Musang District Council and Syarikat True Impression Sdn Bhd, here.

The agreement provides for a RM20-million investment for the development of the Gua Musang old town through the construction of shops, offices and semi-detached and bungalow houses over the next 18 months.

Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said earlier today that the rules and conditions on the airing of the election manifesto would be announced after the dissolution of parliament.

Nik Abdul Aziz also said that a number of the many limestone caves in Gua Musang which support apiculture would be developed as a new tourist attraction.

"I ask the relevant authorities to identify the caves for apiculture but for tourism and not commercial purposes. Other caves can be used for the commercial breeding of bees," he said.

He also suggested that bat droppings in the caves be turned into organic manure.
