Husband’s death a mystery

1

WHY did this have to happen? Why did he go to the apartment?

Those are the questions being asked by the widow of the 61-year-old retired public servant, who fell to his death from the sixth floor on an apartment in Bandar Baru Sentul on Tuesday night, as she struggles to come to terms with her husband’s death.

Osman Abdul Razak was found dead after he was believed to have plunged from the sixth floor of Block 29 of Sri Perak apartments.

His wife, who is in her mid-50s, broke down next to her husband’s body at the scene after rushing there following news Osman’s body had been discovered.

Speaking through tears, she, who declined to be named, said the entire family was puzzled as to what could have gone wrong to cause his fall.

“This is shocking and I do not know why he did this. We have never had any problems with each other or with anybody else,” said the anguished wife. who further questioned why her husband had gone to the apartment in the first place.

“Before this, we never quarreled about anything and what puzzles me is we do not have any friends or relatives at this apartment,” she said.

She said Osman had left their house at Taman Koperasi Polis in Batu Caves around 6pm on Tuesday but never told her his destination and who was he going to meet.

“He is self-employed and had numerous businesses involving food but I do not think this had anything to do with his business,” she said.

Osman was found dead by several Sri Perak apartment residents at 8pm, who went to investigate after hearing a loud thump at the ground floor of the apartment.

They immediately alerted the police, who ascertained at the scene that Osman sustained grievous injuries on his head and right hand while both legs were broken.

Meanwhile, Mazlan Ahmad, 25, one of the residents who discovered Osman’s body, said he was outside of his unit at the time of the incident.

Mazlan said: “I heard a loud thump on the ground floor and when I checked, I found a man lying there with blood on his head. When I saw the face of that man, I realised that he is not from this apartment.”

Sentul district police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said the body was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
